Interior designers share how to make your vision boards come to life with four simple tips.

With the start of the new year often comes new goals, resolutions, and visions. For some, their resolutions might consist of reading more books, hitting 10,000 steps per day, or cooking more meals at home. For others, their goals and visions might include finally painting that stubborn blank wall or giving their bathroom a much-needed facelift.

If one of your goals for the year is to transform your home into a space you love, creating a vision board is a great first step. Vision boards, also called mood boards, are a collection of photos and ideas you can easily refer to for inspiration. "A well-thought-out vision board isn’t just a collection of pretty images—it’s a roadmap to your dream space," says interior designer Jessica Maros.

Curating a collection of inspiration photos is fun, but turning the vision board into reality is a different ball game. "Inspiration is easy; execution is where most people get stuck," says interior designer Jan Odesanya. Home vision boards typically include paint chips, fabric swatches, and images of other homes you love.
